ABOUT THE PROJECT

KM HOME is nothing else than KOSHULYNSKYY & MAYER’s HOME. That is, the home of the founders of our interior studio.

What does the interior of designer Karina Mayer and architect Danylo Koshulynskyy look like? – The main idea is practicality combined with aesthetics. After all, we are talking about very busy, but demanding people. As specialists in their field, the couple simply could not avoid certain trends. And at the same time, they value their time to surround themselves with things that are too demanding in care. And of course, this project has thought out all the issues of ergonomics, habits, schedule and preferences of the owners.

KM HOME

The focus of the KM HOME apartments is a cozy modern open space, which combines the kitchen and living room. The kitchen has become the heart of this home. Made according to the wishes of designer Karina Mayer, it embodies three main principles that are traced in the design of the entire apartment: functionality, intuitiveness and originality. This important space for the hostess even has its own credo: “Everything is real. Everything can be as you want. The main thing is that there is desire, willpower – the support on which everything will hold.” – this is how Karina’s husband, architect Danilo Koshulynsky, explains the idea of the kitchen design.

And accordingly: the countertop of the island and the dining table attached to it rest on untreated blocks of white “Calacatta” marble. This turns the kitchen into a philosophical work. All appliances and kitchen utensils are hidden behind eucalyptus facades. The kitchen is dominated by programmed order and minimalism. The countertop performs one single function – a cutting surface. It has integrated drawers, where everything you need for cooking is at hand. It is connected to a dining table for 4 people. If desired, it can be pulled out from under the countertop and transformed into a table for 8 people.

Marble is also present in the form of inlaid inserts on the dining and coffee tables. The creative owner of the apartments says that contemplating the marble, she sees something new every time. By the way, both the windows and the kitchen are made of natural eucalyptus veneer, which visually unites the entire open space. This warm natural material enhances the pleasant atmosphere on sunny days, and prevents the room from plunging into gray colors on all other days.

The windows in this apartment are nothing short of an artistic device. Wide and defined, they look like picture frames, and on these “canvases” the owners observe the beautiful changing landscape of the park every day. This also explains why the couple abandoned curtains in this area in favor of light curtains. A lamp is installed in one of the windows, directing a beam of light onto the painting “PORTAL” by the famous artist Lesya Panchyshyn.

The autumn colors of the open space are complemented by ABК ceramics ceramic tiles. And besides, it was a practical decision that was thought out in advance. After all, the tiles made it possible to abandon radiators, providing the house with heat coming from underfloor heating. In addition, this is very convenient for the housewife, who uses a robot vacuum cleaner for daily cleaning.

Moving on. The hallway of the apartment is decorated with another painting – “Renaissance” by Andriy Voznytsky. Thus, art is the first thing that guests and residents see when they get home. The entrance group also has a wardrobe for everything that needs to be put on last: outerwear and shoes. And all the bags, umbrellas, etc.

Karina and Danylo abandoned all corridors in favor of useful and functional spaces. The only remaining corridor separates their master bedroom and another room, which may become a children’s room in the future, from the open space.

The bedroom of the founders of the design studio is of course organized according to the “master” principle: there is a dressing room and a bathroom with a luxurious Rosso Imperiale marble washbasin. The plumbing was chosen from the collections of the Hansgrohe and Catalano brands.

The shower and bathroom, separated by glass partitions, allow you to be in the bathroom together without disturbing each other. The dressing room in the bedroom is a unique creation conceived by Karina: an unusual and stylish combination of tinted American walnut veneer and green leather. The back panel is covered with a “boucle” fabric.

The washbasin made of “Patagonia” marble in the guest bathroom is particularly impressive. The backlight and vertical marble sconces on both sides of the mirror create a relaxing atmosphere.

.

The apartment project by designer Karina Mayer and architect Danylo Koshulynsky is distinguished by its decisive but cozy character. New colors and textures that could only be approved by professionals attract attention, but in the end, anyone who does not look is able to appreciate them.

KM HOME is a comfortably organized modern home for a “busy couple” with a thought for the future.
